Aussie Builds That Inspire Our Team

August 6, 2025

At JV Recruitment, we work with some of the best in the business — people who know and appreciate great construction when they see it. We asked a few of our team members to share the buildings or developments that have stuck with them — structures that inspire, impress, or just feel special.  Here’s what they had to say...

Towers Road, Toorak, VICTORIA

“This is one of the last construction jobs I worked on as a cabinet maker. I personally cut every bit of architectural joinery in this house. Very proud to work on this construction for around 3 years.”

For Tyson Sinclair, inspiration comes from a home on Towers Road in Toorak built by VCON Construction — one of the most prestigious residential streets in Australia. He spent three years on this build, crafting and installing every piece of architectural joinery. When it sold in 2016, it set a record for Australia’s most expensive home sale — but for Tyson, the real value was in the craftsmanship and pride poured into the job.

Brisbane Sky Tower, QUEENSLAND

“Sky Tower Brisbane! It's a spectacle — the tallest building in Brisbane with an amazing infinity-edge pool.”

Brad Spink’s pick? Brisbane Sky Tower, the tallest residential building in the city, standing 270 metres tall. Built by Hutchinson Builders, with its modern design and rooftop infinity pool, it’s hard to miss — and hard not to be impressed by the engineering behind it.

Bradfield City Centre, NEW SOUTH WALES

“The level of detail in the master plan is incredible. I check updates every few weeks to see how the project is trucking along!”

Brian Feeney is intrigued by the Bradfield City Centre development, Australia’s newest city. Located in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, Bradfield City Centre is next to the new Western Sydney International Airport. This vibrant, global city will drive industry innovation and serve as a central hub for arts, culture, and entertainment.

Once complete, it’ll deliver 10,000 homes, 20,000 jobs, and a direct metro link — reshaping the region and setting new standards in urban planning. More details here.

Development was by the Bradfield Development Authority, a NSW Government agency. Architectural design of the first building is by Hassell. CBRE played a key role in developing the project

Brisbane Powerhouse, QUEENSLAND

“There’s something cool about how it’s been repurposed — it still has that old, industrial feel, but now it’s full of life.”

Eddie Hayes loves the Brisbane Powerhouse a former power station that’s been cleverly reimagined into a vibrant cultural precinct. The exposed brick, steel beams, and riverfront location make it one of Brisbane’s most unique spaces.

Peter Roy (Brisbane City Council architect) led the design and development of the refurbishment, and once again, Hutchinson Builders also worked on the refurbishment, particularly on the hospitality and commercial aspects.

Manchester Unity Building, Melbourne, VICTORIA

“I’ve always loved the Manchester Unity Building — it’s a beautiful piece of Melbourne’s history with stunning art deco architecture.”

Jack Tosh’s favourite is a heritage gem — the Manchester Unity Building on Swanston and Collins Streets. Constructed in 1931–32, the prominent Melbourne architect Marcus Barlow was entrusted with the design, and W E Cooper Pty Ltd contracted to build. Its Art Deco Gothic design and detailed façade make it a standout in the Melbourne CBD.

Fun fact: for the first time in Australia, a construction progress schedule was used to track and manage the construction of the building!

The Trust, Melbourne, VICTORIA

"I fell in love with the grand, classical architecture — the iconic columns and regal interiors are just stunning.”

Jenn Mowat’s favourite? The Trust in Melbourne — a heritage-listed building that was once the Port of Melbourne Authority Building, now operating as a spectacular wedding venue.

Having styled weddings and setups at The Trust, Jenn admires how the venue blends historic charm with modern elegance — think soaring ceilings, tall pendant lights, dark walnut finishes, and large arched windows. It’s a space that feels both timeless and regal, with a restoration that truly honours its heritage.

Originally completed in 1929, the building’s ground floor was recently revitalised by Biasol and MIC Projects, who brought a sense of Manhattan grandeur to Melbourne’s West End while preserving its Beaux Arts architecture and craftsmanship.

Closer to Home – JV Recruitment HQ, Melbourne

We couldn’t wrap up without giving a nod to a space that means a lot to us — JV Recruitment and JV Traffic's head office in Kensington, Victoria.

Originally built in the early 1900s as a flour silo, the building was transformed by the team at 1 OAK Constructions into a modern, New York loft-style workspace. With exposed finishes, custom joinery, and a converted warehouse feel, it’s a space that mirrors the sector we serve — raw, real, and built to last. It captures who we are — practical, people-focused, and built with care. And we’ve been proud to call it home ever since. It’s a space that feels just as inspiring as the projects we support.

From landmark projects to local icons, JV Recruitment has proudly supported construction across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland for over a decade. Our people have been part of building cities, communities, and careers — and we're growing across Australia's East Coast.

If you need skilled trades, labour hire, or permanent/contract white-collar construction professionals to get the job done right? You can rely on JV to get #WorkDoneRight.
