The Client:
Our client, a highly respected electrical contractor with a strong reputation in delivering large-scale critical projects, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Coordinator to oversee the commissioning of a major data centre project in Melbourne’s west. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in high-pressure environments, can manage multiple stakeholders, and has a proven ability to deliver results on large-scale builds.
The Role:
As Commissioning Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading the commissioning process across all electrical systems within a mission-critical data centre environment. You’ll ensure systems are fully tested, documented, and handed over to the client in line with project deadlines and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage commissioning activities for electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, and BMS.
- Lead FAT, SAT, IST, and integrated systems testing.
- Develop and maintain commissioning programs, documentation, and compliance records (experience with platforms such as Visibuild and Aconex advantageous but not essential).
- Identify and resolve technical and scheduling issues, maintaining alignment with project and site management.
- Liaise directly with external stakeholders, builders, and subcontractors to ensure smooth delivery.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to commissioning teams.
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols, ISO standards, and company procedures.
- No previous experience in Commissioning
- Experience in large-scale commercial OR industrial projects (residential-only experience will not be considered)
- Electrical background is a must – ideally a A Grade Electrician, with Site Supervisor, Site Foreman or Leading Hand experience.
- Someone with experience running their own business or a background in Project Management or Estimating would be a great fit.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain resilient and decisive under pressure while managing demanding deadlines.
- Knowledge of commissioning software, reporting systems, and QA/QC processes.
- $130-160k + super
